SELF REALIZATION

self enlightenment exercise no. 2

At the very next time you look at yourself in a mirror, bring your face a little closer and raise your chin slightly.  Have no concern about how you look, but focus on the black pupils of your eyes for about 10 seconds.

Do not be shy.... and you will get a sense of the magnificent power of your true self.

NOTES
Try to do this simple exercise every day, as you will enjoy a well deserved boost to your self esteem.    The effect is subtle and will last for hours.  You will feel confident and in control of the demands of the day.

Please post a comment or question below about how you got on with this exercise. I will gladly post a reply.

Tanz's Gravatar I just admire the website that you have created, and have done some of the simple meditations. The simplicity is what has struck me.

Brandon Anderson's Gravatar A question not a comment. Is it normal to see something in the puils?? I did but it was fuzzy and without a recognizable form.
# By Brandon Anderson | 04/08/08 18:51
Richard Latham's Gravatar Thanks for your very interesting quesiton Brandon. What you physically see in a mirror through the pupil of your eye is your retina, which is connected directly to your brain.

This is all very self referential, when you try and think about what is actually happening. These sort of self referential situations, defy science and even mathematics, so it's anyone's guess as to what your conciousness might choose to 'see' when faced with this bizaar situation.

I have a question for you, if you don't mind...
How does it make you feel to see this 'fuzzy and unrecognisable form' in your pupils?

Brandon Anderson's Gravatar I got a sense of wonderment i guess would be the closest word, as I knew something was there but i couldnt tell what.
# By Brandon Anderson | 05/08/08 02:21
Richard Latham's Gravatar Brandon, thanks for replying to my question. Yes wonderment is a great word to decribe the sense of Self Realization that occurs, when a mind uses its brain to look through its eye to see a direct reflection of what it is actually doing. I still find it mind boggling, just thinking about it.

Courti's Gravatar I have never looked at this part of my eye before. It was amazing that after 50 some years this I never saw this part of my body. And truth be told it's one part of me that I don't hate.
Thanks so much for this and your wonderful site.

Iris's Gravatar I tried this after reading your e-mail message tonight. Found it a bit scarey...never seen my eyes like this before, made me think of a cat's eyes. A bit scarey. Will try again in the daylight tomorrow.

Nicki's Gravatar I LOVE this exercise. It immediately re-grounds me and reminds me of Who I Really Am, and I appreciate the reminder that I'm only a few seconds away from remembering that.I once heard a wise man (NDW) say that it's almost impossible to look someone in the eyes for 10+ seconds and not love them, because our eyes really are the door to our souls, and looking at ourselves is a wonderful way to get back to love. THANK YOU!

Janice Pickett's Gravatar I do this a lot for relaxing but instead of the eyes I look at my third eye area. A see my aura very clearly. However I get no effect from looking into my eyes? Is this OK or have a got a block there.
Thanks for a wonderful site.

Tammy W's Gravatar Thanks for the exercise. I don't see anything unusual, only my own reflection of my face in my pupil. It's pretty wild. Will do this on a daily basis and see what I notice.

michele's Gravatar hi there
i tried this some years ago, someone told me that if you looked into the pupils of your own eyes you would see the reflection of your own soul, so i tried it, it was a bit weird never did it again until today, i tried it although did it for longer than 10 seconds, what happened was another eye appeared inbetween my eyes, how cool is that.
