TOMORROW WILL BE A GOOD DAY

Jul 28, 2008

self enlightenment exercise no. 15

Take a few moments to remember the beginning of today.

  • How did you feel when you woke up this morning?
  • Can you remember what your first thought was about?
  • Is this how you normally wake up?

Your first thought in the morning is important because it sets your mood for the rest of the day.

To gain a positive head start tomorrow, say this simple phrase to yourself as soon as you wake up:
TODAY WILL BE A GOOD DAY
and then if your mind attempts to contradict this statement, say to yourself
I WILL FIND A WAY

Do this exercise every morning for the rest of your life, maybe creating your own positive affirmation to use instead.  You will engage better with life’s challenges and good events will happen for you because of your more positive mood.

NOTES
This exercise is the most powerful method for positive thinking, but it has one major problem and that is remembering to do it when you wake up.  To overcome this problem, we have created a series of audio wake up calls, which you can copy to your phone and use as your alarm.       Listen to these wake up calls

If you already have a personal affirmation you say to yourself each morning, it would be great if you could share them with everyone by posting them below.

Richard I have been doing this method for quite some time and I have to say the results are and have been remarkable. I often add to it when a problem arises and say "I will find a way" and I always do. Cheers...James

Good Morning to your night Richard,
This is a wonderful exercise, I have been using the half smile or sometimes a full on smile before I get out of bed. It really does change our brain's chemistry and makes for a delicious day. I also have a sign on my desk that says, "I deserve healthy thoughts" whenever a dark thought pops up I counter with this and it works every time!
Thank you for your wonderful website.
Peace and Love,
Suse

Richard,

I think this is a wonderful exercise! And I really liked Susie's suggestion for 'deserving' healthy thoughts!

Blessings,

Hi Debra,
Yes Susie's affirmation on her desk must dispel a lot of negative mental chatter. I also like the additional affirmation from James: 'I WILL FIND A WAY' This must be very helpful when waking up to an especially dreadful day, you tell yourself 'TODAY WILL BE A GOOD DAY' but your mind says 'NO IT WILL NOT' you then counter with 'I WILL FIND A WAY' and you probably do.

The craziest thing is I used to tell myself it was a good day every morning when I worked out in camp, and I just earlier told a freind who been havin a rough time lately to do the same as it always worked for me.

I always try and gather my thoughts before I get out bed, by firstly saying "Good morning Universe, how are you today?" and REALLY meaning it. Then I try to be grateful/thankful for something. For example it may just be thankful for the option of enjoying 5 lazy comfortable minutes in bed to gather my thoughts and put them into a positive direction. Often its just a thanks to prompt a good day such as "thanks for such a happy day filled with joy". It doesn't matter as long as it points my mind towards positivity. Richards idea is a good reminder. Thank you!
